James Martin warned people to never store their eggs in the fridge during his segment on This Morning.
The TV chef chatted with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby when he shared the controversial advice with viewers.
Every household keeps its eggs in different places and it has long been an argument-inducing topic on social media.
After baking two Victoria Sponge cakes with different types of eggs, James discussed the difference between hen and duck eggs.
He added that the 'quality of eggs is key' for a good baked product.
The conversation turned to how where you store your eggs can change how they impact different dishes.
He told viewers at home that "all eggs are porous", which is the reason "why you never put eggs in the fridge".
The star explained that the eggs end up 'absorbing all the flavours from the fridge' due to the texture of the shell.
Eggs in the fridge are also not a good idea as cold eggs aren't always the best for cooking food.
However, it does prolong the eggs' shelf life for those who take a while to get through a carton.
James has previously shared his opinions about cooking with fans and recently said margarine should be banned.
The TV chef joked he hates it so much that he wants it taken off supermarket shelves for good.
James admitted he is a big butter lover but added it's not just the rivalry which makes him turn his nose up at the fridge filler.
The star spoke to Express.co.uk about his hatred of the ingredient many use in place of butter.
He fumed: “Margarine should be banned. It’s the ready-made food, it’s the packet food, the hidden salt, hidden fat.
“It’s dreadful, dreadful stuff - it’s two elements away from plastic, it’s horrendous stuff.
“I’m a farmer’s kid. We’ve always had full-fat milk, butter, and cream. And that’s what we had. There wasn’t such a thing as semi-skimmed milk in our house.”
“That’s the problem in this country. It’s not the butter in a butter block or butter you put on your toast. It’s the fact that not as many people cook in the UK as they do in France or Italy or Spain.”
