However, a move failed to materialise and the north Londoners eventually signed Norwegian playmaker Martin Odegaard instead.
This summer, Maddison has been linked with Arsenal's local rivals Spurs, who hold a long-standing interest in the talented midfielder, football.london understands. Still, newly-rich Newcastle appear to be the club actively pursuing the former Leicester City star the most, with Sky Sports reporting that the Magpies lodged a £50 million bid on Tuesday afternoon, with the Foxes said to be holding out for £60 million.
