James Kavanagh says that his frequent panic attacks are a ‘violent' experience

James Kavanagh has said that his frequent panic attacks are a “violent” experience.

The influencer opened up about his struggle with mental health in a recent Instagram Q&A with fans He revealed he's decided to go down the route of medication as a way to help him cope with his panic attacks.

He said: “I have horrendous anxiety, but it’s weird, my anxiety doesn’t make me feel sad, if you like. My anxiety is really physical. I’ve gotten really violent panic attacks over the past few years….I also recently went on SSRIs.”

He also explained how he went down many different routes to help with his mental health before visiting his GP and making the decision to get medication.

“I was doing loads of things to try and curb my anxiety. I started to do yoga, started to do meditation, but it was just so violent. It almost made me feel like I was going to die and I’d get shortness of breath and feel sick.’

“My anxiety was so bad at one stage I was like; ‘I’d literally rather have a broken leg’”.

The podcaster also admitted that exercising was a big factor in his recovery. He said: “Exercise really helps me as well. I really don’t like exercising, I’m not a fan of it, but I do it regularly enough and it really helps.”
