James Corden has called his restaurant ban "the most surreal moment", as he denies "screaming at anyone".
The Late Late Show host found himself in hot water over an argument with the owner of a New York eatery, who claimed he was "extremely nasty" to staff.
After he sent an omelette back, allegedly telling staff that they couldn't do their jobs, he was banned from Balthazar in Manhattan.
Keith McNally, the restaurant's owner branded him a "tiny cretin of a man" and said that he was the "most abusive customer" he's ever had.
The Gavin and Stacey star found a hair in his food during a visit to the restaurant in June.
He demanded that the staff bring his table another round of drinks as well as covering the drinks that they had already had.
The actor returned in October with his wife for brunch and ordered an egg yolk omelette.
However he sent the food back after he found a "little bit" of egg white mixed with the yolk.
The kitchen made a new omelette and sent it out with house fries, rather than a salad - which infuriated James.
According to Keith, he shouted: "You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!"
Speaking to The Times, James has spoken about the backlash.
"It's been the most surreal moment. I mean, it's so odd. I never screamed at anyone, I didn't shout, didn't call anyone a name or swear or use derogatory language... How is it remotely a thing?
"And that be OK? And now it's fact, and that's that. When that person who posted the story wasn't even there. Just so odd."
He added: "And you know, the reason I had to send the omelette back is because Jules (his wife) is allergic to egg white.
"That's why we'd ordered an egg-yolk omelette. Her actual words were, 'But don't worry if you can't manage it."
In the article he also tried to defend his behaviour and how he's struggled to deal with fame, by arguing that "no-one ever tells you how to deal with this stuff".
Since the story broke, other stories and fan accounts about the actor's "rudeness" have crawled out from the woodwork.

However, James told the paper that he was often approached by fans who thought that he was like his character Smithy in real life.
He said that it "freaked him out" and that he wasn't anything like the Essex handyman.
The presenter said that he "is a musical theatre performer", adding that he "doesn't drink beer" and "isn't a lad".
