James Corden says he's done 'nothing wrong' as he spoke out on his restaurant ban.
The actor-turned-presenter, 44, hit back after being quizzed on an ordeal that reportedly saw him 'yelling like crazy' at restaurant staff over an omelette.
Balthazar New York owner Keith McNally branded the TV star a "gifted comedian" but a "cretin of a man" in a now viral rant and briefly banned James from the foodie hotspot after allegedly leaving one waiter "shaken".
In a new interview, James was asked if he was feeling "all right" following the drama which he has since, according to Keith, 'apologised profusely' for.
James: "I haven't done anything wrong, on any level. So why would I ever cancel this [the interview]? I was there. I get it. I feel so Zen about the whole thing. Because I think it's so silly," James told the New York Times reporter.
He added: "I just think it's beneath all of us. It's beneath you. It's certainly beneath your publication."
James then tried to make light of the incident saying every complaint is "always about eggs".
"It happens every day. It's happening in 55,000 restaurants as we speak. It's always about eggs. Can you imagine now, if we just blasted her on Twitter? Would that be fair? This is my point. It's insane."
James said he thinks he will have to address the whole drama on Monday's show, having originally been reluctant to as his mantra is "never explain, never complain".
The furore started when Balthazar chain owner Keith, 71, hit out at the Gavin and Stacey writer on Instagram, claiming a waiter was "left shaken" after James was upset that the egg white was mixed with the yolk in his omelette.
The Late Late Show host shouted to the server, according to Keith, "you can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!"
Keith has now lifted the 44-year-old's ban from his restaurant, claiming James rang him up personally and "apologised profusely".
Taking to Instagram later on Tuesday evening, Keith admitted he was "feeling strange" as he headed out for dinner at his restaurant with his daughter.
He wrote: "With my daughter, Alice (in black) and her best friend, Margot Paisner, at Balthazar tonight.
"Feeling strange about the James Corden thing. On the one hand, he was definitely abusive to my staff, on the other hand, I feel really sorry for him right now. Like most cowards I want it both ways.
"F**k it, I’m going to get drunk."
James has since added he has managed to avoid most of the news surrounding the backlash of his actions, claiming the situation is "strange".
