James Corden has put his Los Angeles mansion up for sale as he prepares to return to the UK. The Late, Late Show host, 44, has previously spoken about his "really hard" decision to leave the CBS talk show he has hosted since 2015, which is set to run until the spring.
The Mirror says that despite no departure date, Corden is already putting plans in place to sell his huge five-bedroom mansion, believed to be worth nearly $10 million after two real estate brokers were spotted outside the luxury abode. Alicia Drake was seen departing the Brentwood, Los Angeles house alongside Million Dollar Listing LA star James Harris and an unidentified woman on Thursday.
Drake confirmed that the house is for sale, saying: "It won’t be listed – it’s a private sale." Harris insisted he was at the property for a "social thing", claiming that his wife Valeria and Corden's wife Julia are close friends.
Corden bought the 8,600 square-foot building for $9.7 million (£8.58 million) in December 2017, having previously lived in a rented Pacific Palisades mansion with Julia and their three children, Carey, Charlotte and Max. It has a media room and private gym while the property is furnished with a wood-panelled library, seven bathrooms and a large swimming pool in the back garden.
He announced his exit from The Late, Late Show in April with a statement, which read: "This will be my last year hosting the show. When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that. It was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination, you know? And I never want this show to overstay its welcome in any way.
"I always want to love making it. And I really think in a year from now that will be a good time to move on and see what else might be out there… this has been the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, it really has. I’ve never taken this job for granted."
Corden was widely criticised this week after he was banned from New York eatery Balthazar amid claims he had been "nasty" to waiting staff. Restauranteur Keith McNally called the Brit a "gifted comedian" but a "cretin of a man" in a furious Instagram post, shared by food mogul Keith. Corden apologised and his ban was lifted.
