Jamaica in race against time to prepare for peak tourism season after Hurricane Melissa devastation

Jamaican authorities are in a desperate race against time to rebuild the island's western region, devastated by the catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, with the crucial peak tourism season just a month away.

The storm, which struck on 28 October, shattered earlier projections of 7 per cent growth this winter, when the nation had anticipated welcoming 4.3 million visitors.
