Jalen Hurts Discusses ‘Thrill in Not Being Satisfied’ After Nearly Winning Super Bowl

Jalen Hurts nearly led the Eagles to a win against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII in February.

Instead, Kansas City completed a come-from-behind victory to defeat Philadelphia in the battle for the Lombardi Trophy despite an incredible game from the Eagles quarterback.

Hurts, who earned his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2022, earned a record-breaking contract extension this offseason to become the second highest-paid player in NFL history.

But with a new season right around the corner, the 24-year-old says he is not content with reaching the league’s summit. Until Hurts leads Philadelphia to a Super Bowl victory, the Eagles signal caller said he will continue to accept the “thrill” of competing for the NFL’s ultimate goal.

“There’s a thrill in not being satisfied and there’s a thrill in being on this journey, and I have embraced that,” Hurts told the Associated Press. “I love this game and I know my purpose within this game. … So every day I just try to be the best that I can be and that is not based off of external factors. Those things don’t matter. You just try and control what you can.”

Hurts threw for more than 300 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for three scores against the Chiefs. He also finished as runner-up to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the ’22 NFL MVP.

During the 2022 regular season, Hurts threw for 3,701 passing yards and 22 touchdowns while also notching 760 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in 15 games.
