Jake Paul suggests he won't fight Tommy Fury by hitting out at Eddie Hearn

Jake Paul has suggested Tommy Fury may not be his next opponent after labelling anything that Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn says as "rubbish".

Hearn said that Paul would face Fury on August 13 after the YouTube star announced his return to the ring, but Paul won't fight on that date after moving his fight back a week to August 6. Paul has suggested Fury may not be his next opponent whilst taking a jab at Hearn for spouting "rubbish".

Replying to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury over reports of his boxing comeback, Paul wrote: "anything that comes out of [Eddie] Hearn’s mouth is rubbish". Paul seemingly thought Hearn was the one to report Fury's comeback, when it was instead the Daily Mail.

Paul and Fury were supposed to meet in Florida towards the end of last year, but the Love Island star pulled out with a broken rib and bacterial infection. Hearn recently told talkSPORT that he heard the fight was being rescheduled for Paul's return later this year.

“I don’t represent them, but I hear that fight [Paul vs Fury] is happening August 13, so you might see it,” Hearn said. “Both are very limited, but as long as it’s a competitive fight, it doesn’t really matter."

Fury revived his hopes of a rescheduled clash against Paul by winning on the undercard of his brother Tyson's world heavyweight title fight in April. Paul hasn't fought since knocking out ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley last December in his fifth professional fight.

Hearn recently offended Paul by labelling him an "average boxer" but the Matchroom Boss insists he didn't mean it disrespectfully. Assessing both Paul and Fury's boxing skills, he rated them the same but said it would "terrible" if Fury can't beat the YouTube star.

"It's a 50-50 fight, It's a funny one because it's terrible for Tommy Fury if he can't beat Jake Paul, but I don't think he can beat Jake Paul," Hearn told JOE. "Jake Paul didn't like the fact that I said he was average, but they are both average. I don't mean that disrespectfully by the way.

"There are a lot of average boxers. Average is not bad and it's not good. So I said to Jake Paul 'I actually think that's a compliment for you, I'm not saying you're a terrible boxer I'm just saying you're not very good'. The same advice to Tommy Fury so in that case, it's a 50-50 fight in that respect."
