Jaipur: High mast light yet to start functioning at Heritage locality

JAIPUR: A high mast light which was installed at Raja Mal ka Talaab, Joshi Colony, in JMC-Heritage four months ago is yet to be inaugurated.

Councillor of the area said he was informed that the MLA was not free to inaugurate it. This is causing problems for the people living in the vicinity.

Ward 9 councillor Rajat Bishnoi said he went to the corporation several times but got one reply. “Only minister and Hawa Mahal MLA Mahesh Joshi will inaugurate the light or else it will not work,” said Bishnoi.

Joshi Colony resident Mohit Kumar said most of the streetlights installed many years ago do not function.

Another resident Saurabh Sharma said, “Many a times, streetlights don’t work and such a big area with thousands of residents, a good high mast light helps. We were happy that the high mast light was finally installed in our area but without functioning we can see it is of no use.”

This allegation was, however, denied by the corporation officials. SK Bisaria, light deputy commissioner at JMC-Heritage said, “We have to install around 50 high mast lights in Hawa Mahal. We plan to inaugurate all the lights together. Hence, it is taking time.”

Reacting to Bisaria’s claims, Bishnoi said these are just excuses to hide the real reason which is political interference in the corporation’s work by local MLA.
