JAIPUR: The 17-year-old boy detained for the alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl under the Amber police station area on Saturday had lured the girl to a secluded room by promising to buy her things from a nearby market.
DCP (North), Paris Deshmukh told TOI that the police had detained the minor within a few hours after the girl was found murdered. “We have recovered the murder weapon too, several teams had fanned out and nabbed the accused on Saturday itself,” he said.
Deshmukh said that the Jaipur police will file an early charge sheet in the case. SHO, Shiv Narayan said that the accused had initially carried the knife with him to scare her, but later slashed her throat.
Police had suspected the minor’s involvement immediately after they examined the crime scene He is one of the members of the landlord’s family where the girl lived with her parents as tenants. Multiple police teams had fanned out in different directions on Saturday night and detained the minor.
The girl was found murdered only a few hours after she was reported missing by her mother. Her body was found with her clothes missing, inside an abandoned makeshift room near her house on Saturday afternoon.
In the FIR, the girl’s father alleged that his daughter was raped. The police, however, said that only a post-mortem report (PMR) will reveal if there was any sexual assault involved.
Police said that the girl’s mother was the first to find the minor’s body when she was desperately searching for her. The police said the family had adopted the girl sometime in 2016 when she was about three years old.
