The USPCA has welcome the jail term handed down to a Belfast man convicted of kicking his dog about the head.
Jordan Wilson, 29, was sentenced to a total of four months and banned from keeping any animals for the next five years.
He has been permitted the right to appeal the sentence but the animal charity says they hope any appeal should be turned down and they called for the next session of Stormont to introduce a Banned Offenders Register in Northern Ireland.
