Jaguars Release Futuristic Renderings for Domed Stadium Upgrade in Downtown Jacksonville

In 2020, the Jaguars released plans to upgrade its stadium in downtown Jacksonville, and three years since the initial announcement, it appears that serious progress has been made in planning what the new stadium will look like.

The Jaguars released a video on the team’s official social media accounts on Wednesday portraying detailed renderings of the renovated stadium, which will be domed and can seat as many as 71,500 people. From expanded concourses to an outdoor park with hiking and biking trails outside the stadium, the new venue will look much different than Jacksonville’s current home at TIAA Bank Field.

“We have reached the end of this important and initial phase of this project, the design of the stadium we envision will be the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars and serve our entire community for generations to come,” team owner Shad Khan said in a statement on Wednesday. “From stadium discussions starting in 2016, to the formal process launched in July 2020 and now concluding, our objective has always been the same - lock in a promising future for the Jaguars and help our downtown become an economic engine to lift all of Jacksonville, particularly areas that have been underserved. Being able to share the video and stadium design highlights with the people of Jacksonville is a significant step forward in that effort.”
