Jadon Sancho has praised Alejandro Garnacho for his display in Manchester United’s 1-1 friendly draw with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
The teenager was arguably the team’s standout player in his first summer outing in front of fans. After failing to play at all during United ’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, the Argentine has made a late dash for inclusion in Erik ten Hag’s plans this campaign.
Garnacho netted in last week’s 4-1 behind closed doors friendly win over Wrexham, and proved to be a live-wire against Vallecano, building on his memorable season at youth level last term.

He netted twice in United’s FA Youth Cup final win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford and enjoyed his first two senior outings under Ralf Rangnick. Many had tipped him to be the breakthrough player on the tour, but that honour was shared between Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage.
However, he has now forced Ten Hag to think about his inclusion in his senior squad with his two summer outings. Jadon Sancho, who missed United’s friendlies this weekend due to illness, was impressed by Garnacho while watching from the sidelines.
The England winger relayed his praise for Garnacho by reacting to his Instagram post, which he had captioned: “It was fun today.” Sancho responded in the comments with: "Top!” alongside a fire emoji.
