Jack Wilshere makes huge Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal transfer claim after Man Utd interview

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has had his say on a potential move for Cristiano Ronaldo to the Emirates Stadium in the transfer window. It comes after an explosive interview from the Manchester United striker, one in which he criticised his employers and the lack of evolution at the club.

The 37-year-old claims that the Red Devils are yet to evolve beyond the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and believes there is work to do before the side catch up with Arsenal at the top. He told Piers Morgan: "I don't know what's going on. Since Sir Alex Ferguson left I have seen not evolution in the club. The progress was zero," Ronaldo continued when giving his assessment of the club. "I think the fans should know the truth, I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United.

"But you have some things inside that don't help [us] reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal...a club with this dimension should be top of the tree in my opinion and they are not unfortunately. As Picasso said, you have to destroy it to rebuild it (the exact quote was: 'Every act of creation is first an act of destruction')."

It's an interview that has thrown his future at Old Trafford into potential doubt, with just a few months remaining on his current contract. Amid such talk, Arsenal have been urged to make their move for Ronaldo, having struggled to have a consistent goal-scoring striker.

However, it's a move that former midfielder Wilshere believes won't happen as he told TalkSPORT: "I still think he would bring something for the younger players to look at, see how he lives and see how he does things. I still think there’s a benefit to have him.”

When he was pushed for whether he would have him at Arsenal, he adds: "I don’t think Mikel [Arteta] would have him. No [I wouldn’t have him either]... Obviously what he has done is bad, but he doesn’t have a track record of that. He stayed at [Real] Madrid for years.”

While it remains to be seen exactly where Ronaldo's future may lie, it appears unlikely that it will be with Arsenal at this current time of their project.
