An unfiltered Jack Grealish has jokingly thanked Bernardo Silva for being “miles off it” so that match hero Ilkay Gundogan could be substituted on during Manchester City’s dramatic 3-2 final day win over Aston Villa.
The comments came while City were celebrating their Premier League title win during their open-top bus parade through Manchester. Grealish failed to make it onto the pitch on Sunday but watched Gundogan score twice, including the winner, to see his club come back from two goals down to win and clinch the crown.
Thousands of fans lined the streets on Monday to greet and cheer on their heroes with TV cameras allowed on the board to interview players. One of the players to grab the microphone was Grealish, who delivered his lines in an unfamiliarly croaky voice.

He said: ”I said earlier on the coach, it's been brilliant to win my first title. I want to thank everyone - but the main person I want to thank is Bernardo Silva for coming off in the 70th-minute because he was miles off it yesterday.”
Fellow England internationals John Stones and Kyle Walker were seen laughing along with the Birmingham-born star before audio cut back to presenters. Silva netted 13 times and produced seven assists this season while Grealish managed to bag six goals and four assists following his £100m transfer from Aston Villa.
