A gala event at former President Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf club, intended to honor individuals incarcerated for their involvement in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, has been postponed indefinitely, as stated on the event’s website.
The “J6 Awards Gala” was originally set to take place on Thursday at Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey. However, the event date has now been labeled as “postponed,” with the location and time listed as “to be announced,” according to the event’s website.
Although Trump was extended an invitation to attend the event, there has been no confirmation from his end regarding his potential presence.
Providing some context, Trump had previously expressed his intention to pardon individuals involved in the January 6 riot if he were to be re-elected as president. During an interview at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in July, Trump stated, “Oh absolutely, I would. If they’re innocent, I would pardon them. They were convicted by a very tough system.”
Trump has consistently referred to those who have been imprisoned for their roles in the Capitol riot on January 6 as “hostages.”
