Having not long been one of Hollyoaks' most evil villains, actress Rhiannon Clements has now been landed a role in the new series of Vera, joining the drama as an 'ambitious' new recruit.,
Rhiannon will be instantly recognisable to Hollyoaks fans for her sinister star turn as Summer Ranger, the mysterious new arrival to Chester with a serious axe to grind and making life hell for Sienna Blake and Brody Hudson, eventually ending up behind bars for trying to kill Sienna.
Rhiannon has also appeared on TV in the likes of Ridley, Death on the Nile and Doctor Who and will be seen on screen next year in Vera series 13, having joined the cast of the long running ITV show to film in Northumberland.
ITV bosses have revealed that Rhiannon will play DC Steph Duncan, an ambitious new addition to DCI Stanhope's team, as the no nonsense sleuth tries to get to the bottom of more murder mysteries, with Joe Ashworth making a shock return to the fold.

Rhiannon's role in Vera follows on from her being confirmed to appear alongside Doctor Foster and Vigil's Suranne Jones and Grease legend Stockard Channing in new ITV series Maryland.
Other stars confirmed to be appearing the first of three new Vera episodes for the new series include Stephen Lord (Coronation Street, Safe House), Patrick McNamee (Our Girl, Inspector George Gently) Andrew Dunn (The Syndicate, Doctors) and Samantha Seager (Coronation Street, This is Vanity).
They will join television newcomers Travis Ross, Evie Hargreaves and Susan Jayne-Robinson for the new run, which will be preceded by The Rising Tide, a special episode based on Vera author Ann Cleeves' latest critically acclaimed book of the same name. The feature length tale will see Kenny Doughty and Ibinabo Jack make their final appearances on the show, having both been confirmed to be leaving Vera earlier this year.
