The first episode of new ITV drama Trigger Point, starring Vicky McClure, aired today (January 23), and viewers have reacted to its shocking final moments.
The high-octane drama centres around explosives officers Lana Washington, played by McClure and Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) who are called out to investigate a potential bomb factory in a London housing estate.
The duo, who are good friends, having served in the military together in Afghanistan, are part of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad, which is dealing with a terrorist campaign threatening London at the height of summer.

The debut episode featured a number of tense scenes, including Lana attempting to diffuse a bomb attached to a suspected suicide bomber.
But the episode's most surprising moment came during its finale when a devastating bomb exploded, seemingly with devastating consequences.
Trigger Point left viewers with a cliffhanger and they will now have to wait until next week to find out what happened.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their feelings.
@Mxarzz wrote: "I knew the van was gonna blow up and I still jumped off the sofa."
A viewer with the handle @thefunnyhun posted: "I've just jumped about 10 feet in the air."
@JamieBolton tweeted: "This programme before bed probably isn't the smartest move. I jumped a mile on that last explosion."
Viewers also drew comparisons between Trigger Point and the immensely popular BBC cop-drama Line of Duty.
One person with the handle @MC236754 wrote "This show is giving Line of Duty season 1 flashbacks."
@EmilyMulti said: "Just keep repeating to yourself 'This is NOT Line of Duty. This is NOT Line of Duty."
Another viewer tweeted: "This is actually making me so nervous like this is someone's actual job in real life imagine going to work knowing you might be actually blown up."
The second episode of Trigger Point will air at 9pm on Sunday, January 30.
