Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson appeared on Tuesday's instalment of This Morning to discuss all things superheroes as his new film Black Adam comes out this week.
Speaking to Alison Hammond and Dermott O'Leary, the Hollywood A-Lister couldn't help but bring up his past with Alison and their 'marriage'. Alison and Dwayne have a long history, with the actor ‘proposing’ during an interview in 2017 and the pair actually ‘getting married’ on the ITV show months later.
Five years later, Alison and Dwayne reunited over video call on the ITV show, with the star immediately saying: "Good morning to my former, ex-wife Alison, so good to see you." Alison was noticeably beaming at the exchange but insisted she "wasn't going to mention" their history.
The former WWE wrestler even congratulated the ITV presenter on her nomination at the National Television Awards, despite the fact she lost out to Ant and Dec. "Alison, I want to tell you – we’ve known each other for a long time but I’m so happy for you. You’re doing so great, you’ve been nominated for all these National TV Awards, you’ve been incredible, so congratulations!" he told her while blowing a kiss.
"We’ve got to get married again!" he added. "And I’m proud of you as well!" Alison said told him.
The iconic daytime TV host was nominated for a top gong alongside Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and Ant and Dec, who have scooped the presenter prize for the last 21 years. However, Alison got her moment in the spotlight when This Morning won the prize for Best Daytime Show.
After Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby accepted the gong, Phil asked Alison to say a few words, when things took a humorous turn. “Can I just say, we are all so grateful for this award, honestly. I think This Morning is a mood, I ain’t gonna lie,” she began.
“We all know that I should have won one of these as well,” she joked, bursting out into laughter, as her ITV colleagues from Loose Women were seen giving her a standing ovation. “Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legend that are Ant and Dec are amazing, but let’s be honest, I should have won it! But This Morning got one anyway. Well done This Morning, yay!”
Speaking to Alison on the daytime TV show, The Rock couldn't help but congratulate his long-time pal in a sweet moment at the end of his interview.
Viewers loved the nice exchange between the two and took to Twitter. One viewer gushed: "I just love Dwayne Johnson #ThisMorning "
Another penned: "Dwayne Johnson is such a nice guy #ThisMorning," while a third agreed: "Alison calling him darling #ThisMorning "
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
