ITV This Morning viewers call for show 'ban' after spotting pre-Christmas theme

This Morning viewers have called for a 'ban' after noticing a theme on the show in the run-up to Christmas. With Halloween done and dusted for another year, those tuning in to the ITV daytime show on Tuesday (November 1) were left horrified when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield officially declared it as Christmas.

Kicking off Tuesday's show, Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, pointed out they were back in their usual clobber, with Holly donning a floral red and black dress and Phillip opting for a brown shirt and black trousers, after a spectacular Halloween-themed show on Monday which saw the pair transform into Wednesday Addams and Uncle Fester.

But it was a whole different story today as Holly and Phillip started the show by discussing Mariah Carey who took to social media to declare Halloween was over before slipping into her iconic Christmas outfit. The American singing superstar told her followers that 'it's time' for '#MariahSZN' as she took to her Instagram page with a clip of herself donning an all-black catsuit complete with a witch hat as she pedaled on an exercise bike while doing a creepy laugh to the camera.

The video then transitioned to Mariah singing 'it's time' while her rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You began to play. She then appeared sat on a reindeer and was wearing the iconic red bodysuit the 52-year-old wore on the cover of her 1994 Merry Christmas album.

And Holly in particular was on board with Mariah, admitting so by sharing the video on her Instagram Story, and she must have roped Phillip and the This Morning crew in too as they opened with a clip of Mariah Carey singing her Christmas hit before Phillip was seen back in the studio donning a Santa hat.

"I mean, does this mean it's official, the queen of Christmas, has announced it..." Holly said before donning her own red and white festive hat and adding: "It's Christmas everybody!" Philip then called on the This Morning production team to "programme snow" into the background behind them as they got into the spirit of Christmas a few weeks early.

It was, however, soon time to crack on with the show but it appears the Christmas theme continued throughout the programme for viwewers. Holly and Phillip's first guest on the famous This Morning sofa was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The 19-year-old was on the show to discuss the climate emergency, as well as her new book, The Climate Book.

The duo were then later joined by former Dancing On Ice star and Happy Monday favourite Bez. The 58-year-old musician was on the e to discuss his latest memoir – Buzzin’: The Nine Lives of a Happy Monday.

Brendan was one of the guests on the latest edition of the show to promote his new book (ITV)

And his appearance came before Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O'Carroll. The 67-year-old Irish actor was also on the show to plug his new book, his brand new autobiography Call Me Mrs Brown which was released last month.

When he was asked why decided on writing a book now, Brendan bluntly responded "the cheque was good," followed by laughter from Holly and Phil. He also revealed that a new mini-series of Mrs. Browns Boys will start with a Christmas special and continue throughout next year.

But This Morning viewers couldn't help but comment on all the books being plugged on the show and flocked to social media to comments. @realgmg67 said: "Ban new books plugs on #ThisMorning it's a #CostOfLivingCrisis." @DavidMackayy wrote: "Another bloody book? #ThisMorning must think we all have bookshelves that hold hundreds and hundreds of books."

@Mabel_Mouse_ commented: "3 books being advertised today. That’s what it’s going to be like from now until Christmas #ThisMorning." @paulbond86 posted: "Another one with a book to plug, it must be almost Christmas #ThisMorning." @onlysmols added: "Could they have put Greta and Bez on at the same time and they could have had a 'book off' #ThisMorning."
