ITV This Morning viewers ask 'what's the point' as they're divided over Alison Hammond segment

This Morning has come under fire over one of its latest flashy segments. During Wednesday's edition of the ITV daytime show, viewers saw Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield introduce a film from Alison Hammond following her sun-soaked trip to Dubai.

The Friday This Morning host jetted off to the city in the United Arab Emirates at the end of April, sharing updates with her millions of social media followers while she was there. At the time, fans thought Alison was simply enjoying a spring break and was lapping up her content.

In one video she shared to Instagram the 47-year-old could be seen sipping on a refreshing-looking pink cocktail as the sun beamed down in the background before ditching her kaftan to swim in an infinity pool that overlooks the city. "Self care and self love is me right now," she captioned the video as she beamed for the camera.

She then returned to the photo-sharing platform with gorgeous selfie, showing her rocking a leopard print swimming costume and pair of square sunglasses while her hair had been scraped back into a chic bun and she'd popped on a red lip. Among those commenting was This Morning star and close friend Josie Gibson. Showing her support, she wrote: "Good people deserve good things. Have a beautiful time Hammando."

And Alison's work was finally shown on This Morning, with Holly and Phil revealing the pre-recorded segment as Alison in Arabia. The clip showed the mum-of-one living the high life in Dubai as she swam in an infinity pool and promoted the popular holiday destination.

However, viewers tuning in at home weren't too happy with the segment, mainly due to its placing in the episode as it came after money-saving expert Martin Lewis had just featured on the show to help people with their financial woes amid the Cost of Living crisis.

Also, just minutes before, Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, spoke about a 94-year-old called Rita who has been hounded by British Gas for a bill that was not hers, and was struggling to get by day-to-day. Alice Beer also appeared on the programme after investigating the appliances which can really drive up the bills at home as well as those that can help keep costs down.

Flocking to social media, @Lovelo4Lorraine tweeted: "#ThisMorning why are you playing a segment of Alison living the high life when the UK is in a cost of living crisis." @TraylorHolmes said: "What’s the point in doing an item telling you to only boil a kettle with enough water for one cup of tea so you can afford to pay your energy bills if the next item is Alison lapping up the luxury in Dubai? #ThisMorning."

@shrimpsy291 commented: "How to save money by boiling only one cup in kettle now let’s go see Alison on a luxury holiday in Dubai #ThisMorning. @wondercow78 shared: "Not that i don’t love @AlisonHammond but seriously!…….I don’t want to see this ….I’m literally panick stricken about paying my bills this month! I’m not down with watching people sunning it abroad TBF."

But @ilovemyboys1988 said: "Alison just looks so glam! #iwishiwasthere." @blue_laur11 joked: "Not jealous of Alison been there oh who am I kidding of course I am." @DebbieAlAmiley1 added: "Great to see Alison given an amazing travel experience. Love her."
