ITV This Morning host Phillip Schofield has announced that he's deleted Twitter, calling it "vile and disgusting". The TV star was discussing the popular social media platform with Holly Willoughby on the show yesterday (April 26) in the wake of Elon Musk acquiring in for £34.5 billion.
Addressing the tech millionaire buying it, Phillip voiced his concerns that the platform "could become even more of a cesspit than it already is." He slated the app saying there is a part of it that is "vile and disgusting."
As OK! reports, Phillip told viewers: “I’ve deleted it off my phone. And I’ll quite openly say that because there is a section that is wonderful and magnificent and funny and informative. And there is a section that is vile and disgusting and I want no part of it in my life.”

While Phillip has deleted the app off his phone, he admitted that his account is still active. Once a religious user of Twitter, the This Morning presenter hasn’t tweeted since December 2021.
Phillip joins actress Jameela Jamil in boycotting the platform after Elon acquired Twitter. Announcing that she’d no longer be using it, Jameela wrote on Monday alongside a string of snaps with her dog: “Ah [Elon] got twitter. I would like this to be my what lies here as my last tweet. Just really *any* excuse to show pics of Barold.”
She went on: “I fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny. Best of luck.” Jameela's comments come after Elon described free speech as “the bedrock of a functioning democracy”.
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” he wrote following the news of his successful purchase. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and users to unlock it," Elon added.
The billionaire has recently secretly welcomed a second child with his ex-partner Claire Elise Boucher, AKA the singer Grimes. The pair had their daughter via surrogate during the pandemic, which enabled them to keep it all under the radar, and they named her Exa Dark Sideræl Musk – but call her Y.
