ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond responds to Dermot O'Leary calling her a b***h live on air

This Morning viewers were left open-mouthed when they realised Dermot O'Leary called his co-host Alison Hammond a b***h live on air. The pair were reunited on the ITV daytime show on Monday (July 18) for their second week as full-time hosts before several familiar faces take over until Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's return in September.

But Dermot and Alison didn't look set to last the week after former Big Brother contestant Kate Lawler presented the show's competition segment. Her appearance on the programme, albeit via video link, meant Alison had a 'Big Brother' reunion with her friend as they appeared on the reality show together in 2002.

Dermot, 49, then surprised Alison, 47, with a throwback clip of the pair during their time in the famous house. He said: "Let's have a quick look at you and Kate in this iconic moment in the Big Brother house." The footage also showed Dermot presenting the show's spin-off, Big Brother's Little Brother, which he hosted from 2001 until 2008.

After seeing the clip, Alison poked fun at her co-star, saying; "Look at you with a bald head, you should so go back to that bald head. Why don't you shave your head? Look how fit you look." The pair continued to joke with one another as Alison said: "You were so good on that show," and Dermot replied: "Just at that show?" to which Alison responded, "Yeah."

Laughing, Dermot then raised his glass of water and said "such a b***h," whilst seemingly forgetting he was on daytime TV. Seconds later Alison, who looked rather shocked, then responded "oops" as she quickly ushered "apologies for that." However, Dermot seemed unbothered and added: "Oh sorry," before reading the link for the next segment, with Alison trying to stifle her laughter.

This Morning viewers, however, were left 'screaming' over the live slip-up and some went so far to say Dermot should be SACKED. After reaming quiet on the comment, Alison has now shared a video of her mocking the incident which she posted to Instagram just before going back on-air with former X Factor host Dermot.

In the clip, Alison could be seen quoting Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, saying: "And then when we get back to New York we need to contact Lesley to see what she can do to minimise the press on all this," while wearing a sun hat and a pair of shades. The mum-of-one then captioned the clip: "When you get called a b***h live on air."

She also tagged Dermot in the post. Kate was among the first to reply, sharing a string of crying laughing emojis before writing: "Dermot you are live on air, PLEASE do not swear." Former Love Island star Olivia Attwood replied: "SCREAMING," alongside a slew of crying laughing emojis while pal and co-star Josie Gibson simply responded with a string of emojis.

Dermot may have also had his tail between his legs as he commented: "The best!" But many of Alison's followers saw the funny side. @felicityjayne said: "This is brilliant! I was watching and it made me howl. Your bantz is brilliant and Dermot just forgot he was on the telly love you guys!"

@tvaqueen laughed: "He was so squirmy afterwards, he could barely do the next bit." @lisakayxx wrote: "His face was gold when he realised what he said." @beckyrebeccabex replied: "Literally the funniest thing! He forgot you were on tv for a moment! Said it like I would to my mates! Hysterical!"
