ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary announce last show after swearing drama

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have confirmed their last day on This Morning. The pair were back at the helm of the ITV daytime programme on Thursday (July 21) when they revealed it was their penultimate show meaning they'll be taking a break after Friday's show.

Realising the day during today's show, Alison, 47, commented: "This is our penultimate day, and then we're on holiday aren't we?" Dermot, 49, nodded in agreement before Alison put on a sarcastic voice and said: "Oh, what a shame," before bursting out into laughter.

But it's not all bad news. They're set to be replaced by Josie Gibson, who has been a constant hit with viewers of the show after she was thrown into the main hosting role for the first time last year, and Craig Doyle who fans of This Morning have met before when he replaced Dermot O'Leary on the show.

Rochelle Humes will also be put back in the hot seat but will be joined by Good Morning Britain and Lorraine regular Andi Peters. Josie will later return with Bolton's very own Vernon Kay who made his hosting debut on This Morning in December. Rochelle and Craig will then join forces before her former The Saturday's pal Mollie King takes her spot alongside Craig.

And one return that is really getting viewers excited is that of Ruth Langsford. She hasn't been seen on the show since last year, before her husband and co-star Eamonn Holmes quit This Morning after 15 years. She'll be joined back on the programme by her 'TV son' Rylan Clark.

Rochelle and Vernon finally take the reins to end the summer before Holly and Phil's return at the start of September. And viewers were soon taking to social media to share their excitement after Alison and Dermot mentioned their last day. @onlysmols tweeted: "Aw I don't mind Alison and Dermot! But they aren't Rylan and Ruth it's nearly party time! #ThisMorning." @Stepharrnee commented: "Looking forward to Ruth & Rylan #ThisMorning."

Alison and Dermot's confirmation comes days after the pair were involved in an on-air swearing horror. This Morning viewers were left open-mouthed when they realised Dermot called his co-host a b***h live on air. it came as former Big Brother contestant Kate Lawler presented the show's competition segment resulting in a bit of a BB reunuion.

Dermot surprised Alison with a throwback clip of the pair during their time in the famous house. He said: "Let's have a quick look at you and Kate in this iconic moment in the Big Brother house." The footage also showed Dermot presenting the show's spin-off, Big Brother's Little Brother, which he hosted from 2001 until 2008.

After seeing the clip, Alison poked fun at her co-star, saying; "Look at you with a bald head, you should so go back to that bald head. Why don't you shave your head? Look how fit you look." The pair continued to joke with one another as Alison said: "You were so good on that show," and Dermot replied: "Just at that show?" to which Alison responded, "Yeah."

Laughing, Dermot then raised his glass of water and said "such a b***h," whilst seemingly forgetting he was on daytime TV. Seconds later Alison, who looked rather shocked, then responded "oops" as she quickly ushered "apologies for that." However, Dermot seemed unbothered and added: "Oh sorry," before reading the link for the next segment, with Alison trying to stifle her laughter.

This Morning viewers, however, were left 'screaming' over the live slip-up and some went so far to say Dermot should be SACKED. After reaming quiet on the comment, Alison shared a video of her mocking the incident which she posted to Instagram just before going back on-air with former X Factor host Dermot.
