The latest episode of This Morning was briefly halted as a guest made a correction. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Thursday (October 20) as they continued to fill in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
They were joined live in the studio by Dr Larisa Corda who was on hand to answer viewers' questions about fertility. But as they introduced her to the programme, Dermot said: "Before we go to the phones, I know you wanted to clear something up from a previous time you were on."
Dr Larisa then took over as she said: "At the end of August I appeared on the show alongside a woman called Bailey Ennis. She was on to speak about having a baby after purchasing a DIY insemination kit and using a sperm donor she found online.
"During the item, I said that this was illegal. I'd just like to clarify that what Bailey did wasn't illegal however outside of licensed clinics, sperm donation isn't regulated. It is always safer to have treatment with donor sperm at a licensed clinic where they carry out health tests, offer counseling and ensure the correct legal documentation is in place."
Twenty-four-year-old Bailey appeared on This Morning on August 31 and discussed having a baby via artificial insemination in September 2021 because she was so keen to be a mother.
The law student became pregnant on her first attempt the following month after finding a sperm donor online and gave birth to son Lorenzo on July 2.
Meanwhile, Dr Larisa's latest appearance on the ITV daytime show to take part in the phone-in came after Nicola Adams appeared live on the sofa with her girlfriend Ella Baig and their baby son, Taylor. The former boxing champ spoke about her 'panic' when thier IVF baby came a month early.
Nicola and Ella will star in ITV Be documentary Nicola Adams: IVF and Me. The one-off programme,s et to air on Thursday night (October 20), will see the couple recount their IVF struggles, which saw them endure three heartbreaking miscarriages.
During the chat with Alison and Dermot, Ella revealed she almost gave up on their hopes of welcoming a child after the couple's third miscarriage. Recalling the "emotionally challenging" process, Ella said: "I definitely, after the second time when I wanted to try again I said 'if it doesn't work this time, I need a break.'
"It's really emotionally challenging because it's just a constant up and down. You don't know whether to be happy, you don't know whether to just switch off your emotions and try and ride through it. and it's supposed to be a nice experience. It can be really really hard."
