ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh winces as player forced to apologise after costly error

Bradley Walsh winced after a player's costly mistake on The Chase.

The 62-year-old presenter welcomed four new quizzers on Thursday's edition of the ITV game show. Patrick, Linda, Afreena and Brian were taking on Paul Sinha on the latest episode.

The team started off in strong form and Patrick bagged £8,000 before navigating his way past The Sinnerman. Linda joined her teammate in the Final Chase as she sailed through with £7,000.

The Chaser retaliated and eliminated Afrenna before it was Brian's turn to face Paul. The 44-year-old showed impressive knowledge to earn £6,000 in the cash-builder.

Paul offered a higher amount of £60,000 and the lower offer of minus £3,000. The team predicted Brian could maybe take the higher amount before he surprisingly took the negative offer.

Brian easily navigated his way past Paul and would have had one chance to add the £60,000 offer if he had accepted the higher amount. The host winced as he got through and took £3,000 off the total prize.

He said: "I think you've played far too cautious here Brian." The Sinnerman added: "It wasn't so much that you were a good player, but you've taken 20% of the fund away which a player of your quality shouldn't be doing."

However, Paul added: "Him getting back is the right thing to do and they're now the favourite to win." Brian's apology was accepted by the team as he returned to the podium and the Chaser was proven to be right as the team built up 21 steps in their bid to win £12,000.

The Sinnerman could only build up 17 steps in the Final Chase so the team took home the cash prize.
