ITV has given an update on Phillip Schofield's permanent replacement on This Morning, just as fans waded in to have their say.
It's now been two weeks since the former presenter announced that he was stepping back from ITV altogether after sharing the week previous that he had quit This Morning after more than 20 years on the famous sofa.
And earlier this week, Phillip's former co-host and friend Holly Willoughby made an emotional return to the popular daytime show, saying she felt "shaken, troubled, let down and worried" about the events that led to Phillip's shock departure from This Morning.

Holly, 42, appeared on screen for the first time on Monday (June 5) a fortnight after the shock departure of her former co-host and his subsequent revelation of an affair with a younger ITV male employee.
Mum-of-three Holly addressed the scandal head on in a statement read out live on air as she was supported by her new co-host Josie Gibson. She has since continued on as normal and spent the past two days hosting alongside Craig Doyle.
And it's fair to say that the Irishman has been a hit with viewers. With it not clear when exactly Craig will be back at the helm following Thursday's show, This Morning fans were flocking to social media to praise Craig and brand him the ideal replacement for Phillip.
@Cheryl82185788 said: "This Morning has got to make Craig Doyle the permanent host, he is lovely, great personality and compliments Holly Willoughby on the sofa, fits in with the team like a glove. Come on This Morning make it happen."
@eastleedslass tweeted: "Craig Doyle is superb on This Morning and if they've any brains he will get the permanent gig with Holly." @ForeverOUFC begged: "Can we have Craig Doyle permanently as Phil’s replacement? He and Holly just work so well together #thismorning."
While ITV has yet to confirm who will permanently join Holly on the show from Mondays to Thursdays, the broadcaster has now indicated they are getting closer to a decision. A spokesperson for ITV said it would make further announcements on future presenters of the show "in due course".
"In the meantime, we will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly," they added in a statement to The Journal.
