Nottingham's Vicky McClure is set to fly the flag for the city once again in her new ITV drama Without Sin, a new dark phycological thriller. The series explores the relationship which develops between a grieving mother and the man she believes murdered her daughter.
McClure plays the leading role of Stella Tomlinson, whose 14-year-old daughter Maisy is found dead at their family home with the bloodied, hooded figure of Charles Stone standing over her. At the press launch, held at Nottingham's Metronome, Vicky said being part of the project "meant everything".
The new ITV drama is part of the channel's ITVX launch, which sees exclusive shows released on the streaming platform, which will later come to terrestial TV.

Nottingham filming locations
The series has Nottingham coursing through it, with McClure saying she hopes it shows off the city. At the series premiere, she said: "The show was written by a Nottingham writer, it was set in Nottingham and I just really hope that the audience will enjoy - if they're not from Nottingham - to see the city in all its glory."
"And then for those that are locals, it's a big show, it's a great show and it's set here and it's for the city."
Scenes were shot across Nottingham, in Forest Fields, at Notts County Football Club and at Victoria Centre Market, where Vicky's grandfather once had a stall. McClure, who is also Executive Producer, is joined by Johnny Harris who plays Charles and says he's come to love Nottingham.
Who wrote Without Sin?
Writing for TV for the first time, Without Sin was created by Nottingham local Frances Poletti, an award-winning British screenwriter. Her first play was performed at Soho Theatre and recognition for her work includes a Royal Television Society Award and a Student Oscar.
Without Sin cast
The main cast in the Nottingham-based project include:
- Vicky McClure as Stella Tomlinson
- Johnny Harris, who has starred alongside McClure in This Is England, as Charles Stone
- Dorothy Atkinson, star of Mr. Turner, Pennyworth and Mum, as Jessie Cole
When it is released and how many episodes there are
Without Sin will be shown on ITVX for the first time on December 28 and there are four thrilling episodes to stream. Without Sin will then be shown on terrestrial TV at a date yet to be confirmed.
How to watch Without Sin
To see Without Sin when it airs, you will need to watch it on ITVX, a free service which is set to replace the ITV Hub. Announced in March, ITVX will come with around 15,000 hours of TV on its launch, all for free. To compare, the ITV Hub currently hosts around 4,000 hours.
Viewers will have the choice of free-to-watch streaming with ads, or a paid for subscription without. A paid for ITVX sub will also gain access to UK streaming platform BritBox, ITV say.
