ITV's Lorraine Kelly 'tempts fate' with closing remark on return from sudden illness

Loraine Kelly was in serious danger of 'tempting fate' with a remark she made as she ended her first show back after being struck down by a serious illness last week.

Lorraine was all set to host her show last Wednesday when she fell ill suddenly, while behind the scenes at ITV and was sent home by her bosses. Explaining what happened to viewers who were concerned by her absence, the popular host took to twitter to post: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!!"

As Ranvir Singh was called in at the last minute to deputise for her, Loraine was flooded with well wishes from viewers and her famous friends and there was more support for her when she was also missing in action on Thursday and Friday too.

Thankfully, Lorraine was back and seemed in good spirits as she presented Monday's show, informing viewers at home and her ITV colleagues on Good Morning Britain that she was feeling "much, much better" before thanking Ranvir for standing in for her at short notice.

Lorraine also discussed her bout of sickness with Dr Hilary Jones minutes into her programme, before being joined by Unforgotten star Sanjeev Bhaskar in the studio. ahead of the new series lanch on Monday night.

But it was something Lorraine said right before credits rolled that attracted some attention. Bringing proceedings to a close after she spoke to This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Lorraine told viewers at home that Adam Lambert would be on Tuesday's show, adding: "I will see you at 9, as always."

And, given what happened last week, fans were left wondering of Lorraine should have chosen her words more carefully.
