ITV I'm A Celebrity Amir Khan's glamorous £1m wedding to model wife Faryal Makhdoom and crazy guestlist

Amir Khan is among the stars taking part in the latest I'm A Celebrity spin-off, in a bid to become the ultimate campmate.

The former pro boxer first appeared in the seventeenth series of the ITV show in 2017, finishing in fifth place. Now he's in South Africa alongside an all-star cast of previous contestants, battling out the 'toughest' challenges yet.

Amir, 36, hasn't shied away from talking about his personal life in the Kruger National Park camp - and he is used to documenting his life with wife Faryal Makhdoom in the BBC Three series Meet The Khans: Big in Bolton.

In Tuesday night's (April 25) I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, Amir revealed all about his bumper wedding, which featured two ceremonies across the continents. He admitted he spent 'about a million pounds' on the special occasion, telling the camp: “I had 4,000 people at my wedding. 4,000!

"I mean, it’s family, friends, everyone likes to be there. If you call one family member they want to bring their auntie, uncle, cousin, brother, sister… I probably spent about a million pounds on my wedding. Can you believe that?”

He added: “The ice cream man got an invite as well. If I was ever to do it again it would be me and my wife and keep it simple.”

In the Bush Telegraph, he said: “I think the whole of Bolton must be there. I didn’t even get to enjoy it to be honest with you. It was that busy, that many people there, it was like a massive gala, like a big event happening.”

Pakistani-American model Faryal, 31, was introduced to Amir by a mutual friend. She was born in Brooklyn and graduated from Rutgers University School of Arts & Science with a double major in political science and journalism.

Her father Shaukat and mother Zia have a luxury home on Staten Island, while she has made a name for herself as an Instagram star and YouTuber. She is primarily known as a model, but also rose to fame with her popular make-up tutorials. Faryal also used to own her own brand, 'Faryal Comestics', but according to Companies House, the company dissolved in September 2020.

She and Amir got married 10 years ago, celebrating with two wedding ceremonies, one in America and another in Greater Manchester.

They held a glitzy, 1,000-guest ceremony at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel in May 2013. The loved-up couple then flew to Khan's hometown of Bolton where a second celebration, a traditional Walima, took place, with 4,000 guests in attendance.

On his marriage, Amir told Hello! Magazine: "I've lived the young life, I've done everything I've wanted to do. Now is the right time to settle down and start my own family. I've got to look after Faryal, so I won't be going out as much partying with my friends.

"I don't want that anymore - I want to do the family thing. I think I'll change as a person when I'm married and it'll be a big plus for me, I'll be able to be more focused on my job too."

The couple have welcomed three children together, two girls and a boy - Lamaisah born in 2014, Alayna in 2018, and Muhammad in 2020.

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa airs weekdays from 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
