ITV Good Morning Britain viewers fume 'have a word with yourselves' as they're left furious over choice of 'top story'

Good Morning Britain viewers appeared furious as they tuned into the penultimate episode of the week. Susanna Reid was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday (March 2) alongside Ben Shephard.

The pair were talking through the latest news headlines as well as being joined by various guests for the usual debates and celebrity chats. However, those tuning in to the show were left fuming with GMB's choice of 'top story'.

The hosting duo spoke at length about how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that they have been asked to "vacate" their UK home just weeks after Prince Harry’s damning book, Spare, was released. Harry and Meghan Markle's spokesperson said a "request" had been made for the Sussexes to give up Frogmore Cottage close to Windsor Castle.

Frogmore, a Grade-II listed property which is owned by the Crown Estate, was a gift from Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. But reports have claimed the fresh move was sanctioned by the King and it will remove their remaining foothold in the UK and further weaken ties with the royal family.

But GMB viewers were disappointed that the programme show this as their top story after news broke on Wednesday night that remains have been found in an area of woodland following a major search for Constance Marten’s two-month-old baby. Hundreds of officers from the Metropolitan Police and Sussex Police, as well as search and rescue volunteers, scoured 90 square miles of land near Brighton over the course of two days in search of the infant.

On Wednesday evening, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford told reporters a baby’s remains had been found close to where Marten and her partner Mark Gordon were arrested on suspicion of child neglect on Monday. As the investigation continued, police became more concerned the child had come to “serious harm” and the couple were eventually rearrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

@kittten12 tweeted: "The remains of a two-month year old baby has been found and yet #HarryandMeghan's eviction from #FrogmoreCottage is #gmb's top story." @Shopgirl19701 fumed: "DEAD BABY found in woods, but Harry and Meghan having to leave their EMPTY house is your 'Main news'... Have a word with yourselves #GMB #HarryandMeghan."

@TonyCalder17 wrote: "And Ben and Susanna still haven’t mentioned the police finding the baby remains but they have mentioned Harry and Meghan and football. #GMB." @7Shano added: "#GMB Main story is King Taking Royal House back off non Royal and not that a babies body has been found."

But despite the criticism, correspondent Nick Dixon was out in Brighton bringing viewers the latest on the situation.
