ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid takes swipe at Richard Madeley as she appears to reveal she sees viewers' comments

Susanna Reid took an unsuspecting swipe at Richard Madeley during their latest stint on Good Morning Britain and it seemingly proved that the presenter does follow along with commentary made by viewers when the show is on air. The pair were back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Tuesday (November 22).

It is the only daytime show airing on ITV today with Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women all cancelled to make way for coverage of the World Cup in Qatar. So they made the most of their time on air with another jam-packed episode with a look at the news headlines, more debates and celebrity guests.

Cold Feet actor Robert Bathurst was the last to appear on the show talking about his new role in Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol. As he discussed the play, and the Country icon's involvement, Susanna appeared to make a dig at Richard following viewers' complaints last week.

"Are you going to tell the story," she quipped with a grin but was seemingly ignored by former This Morning host Richard who plowed on with his question to Robert. He did, however, pick up on what she had said and later quizzed Susanna and what she meant. She wondered if he was going to tell his tale about Dolly Partin which he shared on the show last week.

Dolly was awarded a $100m (£84.8m) prize by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The country icon and philanthropist was given the Bezos Courage & Civility Award which recognises leaders who "pursue solutions with courage and civility" and Richard and Susanna discussed the story during the episode on November 14.

Upon discussing the major monetary award on GMB, Richard recalled an interesting interview moment he shared with Dolly. Telling Susanna, he said "I looked at her, and this is live, and I said 'God, you've got really tiny feet, haven't you?' and she looked at me and went [cups his chest] 'nothing grows in the shade, honey.'" He then added of the Jolene hitmaker: "She's a living doll."

But it appears it's not the first time he said it. He actually recalled the tale earlier this month during an appearance on BBC's Have I Got News For You and GMB viewers hadn't forgotten about it.

@JohnDix05864924 tweeted: "#GMB why does Madeley keep repeating stories 'I may have told this story about Dolly Parton before' yes we have and it’s still not funny." @gz4216 pleaded: "Madeley please STOP telling that Dolly Parton anecdote! You tell it at EVERY opportunity!" @mntrg echoed: "#GMB @richardm56 can you please stop telling that story every time Dolly Parton is mentioned." @DannyDenay added: "Richard Madeley: I've told this story many times before I mean I've heard it 3 times in the last WEEK! #GMB."

So during the latest edition of GMB, he quickly retold the story again before Robert shared his own thoughts on Dolly. However, the interview soon came to a quick end as the hosts became pushed for time. Susanna said: "We are about to be taken off air for the World Cup." She told her guest he had 20 more seconds to tell them while he's support Ecuador in the footballing competition.

And after he quickly shared it is because the team features a number of players from his local team, Susanna wrapped up the show and added: "Good Morning Britain back tomorrow from six. Up next, we're joining our colleagues at ITV Sport for coverage of the World Cup. Thank you."
