Good Morning Britain viewers have blasted Liz Truss' reported energy proposals.
Thursday's edition of the ITV news programme was hosted by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard. The anchors interviewed Tory MP Simon Clarke as the new Prime Minister prepares to announce her energy plans later today.
The UK has been hit with a cost-of-living crisis as shock forecasts predict the price cap could soar to over £5,000 in April. Ms Truss is expected to announce a freeze on the price cap to ease the burden on energy customers in the UK.

However, the hosts questioned Mr Clarke on today's show about how Ms Truss plans to fund the proposals. Ms Truss rejected the idea of extending the windfall tax on energy companies during her first Prime Minister's Questions yesterday.
Susanna grilled Mr Clarke on why energy companies won't foot the bill when firms are expected to record profits of £170bn. He shot back: "Those companies are who we need to be delivering the next generation of North Sea oil and gas extraction to get us towards the energy self sufficiency, which is the absolute last solution to weaning us off reliance on Russian gas.
"These companies already pay a huge amount in tax. They pay 40p in the pound corporation tax compared to 19p on the pound which is the main rate for other companies and that's before you factor in the windfall tax we incorporated earlier this year."
Susanna was baffled by the proposals as she warned the next generations will be hit by the policy. She said: "It's going to be our children and grandchildren who will have to pay more tax to pay off the bill that's going to come to them in the form of borrowing."
Viewers following the show on Twitter blasted the Tory government's refusal to impose a windfall tax as "ridiculous".

Phillip posted: "Same old Tories, let the money flow upwards whilst the people suffer the cost of the £200billion profits these companies are set to make. He says the company pays tax on these profits, well some news, ultimately it's the people who pay by being ripped off."
Andy commented : "Profiteering plain and simple, Tories dooming our children to life long debt."
Jean tweeted: "Put it on the country’s credit card. Oh just a minute who has to pay that back? Yes us. A windfall tax would help reduce the bill but Tory dogma won’t let them do it!"
