Marlon is engaged to Rhona Ghoskirk, who will return to work in episodes airing from May 2 - 6. However, the co-owner of Butler's Farm will struggle as she continues to care for her partner while juggling her professional responsibilities.
The character, played by Zoe Henry, is nervous about leaving Marlon alone while she goes to work so asks her mum to take care of him. Mary allows Bear to take Marlon to the allotment, but his coughing is set to worsen while he's there.
This prompts a concerned Liam to suggest he should seek medical attention - and Bear rushes Marlon back to hospital. Marlon will discover he has developed aspiration pneumonia - and spoilers reveal this will leave Rhona "sick with worry".
The spoilers added: "It’s worrying times and Marlon sees the concern in Rhona’s eyes that his condition is worse than she lets on. The next day, the doctor informs Marlon and Rhona his rehabilitation progress will likely regress and they’re both heartbroken by this step backwards."
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
