There's never really a good time to cross Kim Tate but Harriet Finch's decision to declare her love for the character's fiance Will Taylor before their wedding probably isn't the best. As Emmerdale viewers know, Kim is busy planning her nuptials.
However, the date of the big day is suspiciously set to clash with the ITV soap's 50th anniversary episode. And so it was never going to go to plan, was it? The soap is set to offer up a month's worth of drama to fans but there will be one particular episode, to air on October 16, that will really kickstart events with Kim and Will's wedding.
"Of course, it's not going to go smooth," Jane Hudson, Emmerdale's executive producer, teased to the Manchester Evening News and other press. "It's the week that's going to deliver the most epic of stunts," she added. But as the wedding is set to take place, the village will be thrown into chaos as a massive storm will rip through the village "and leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake."
But back to the wedding and her involvement in the 50th, Katherine Dow Blyton, who plays Harriet, teased at the special event in the Emmerdale village: "It's so frustrating. There are all these exciting things and we can't talk about them!" She then went on: "I'm involved because Harriet has once again got herself mixed up with men problems.
"She's involved because she's getting wrapped up in Will's life a little more than she should perhaps be and it has an impact on his upcoming nuptials."
When it was suggested that she's missing with Kim's man, Katherine joked: "He was my man first," but she did admit it wasn't wise to mess with Kim's 'property', laughing; "Whether it be a horse, a house, or a man... I'm really playing with fire there but it's last chance saloon. She's got to make her feelings known before he walks down the aisle."
Asked how she's fining working with Claire King, who plays Kim, Katherine joked: "She's awful..." before adding: "Harriet's no Kim Tate but they're both quite feisty women and able to look after themselves so there will be fireworks and they'll have their moments, definitely."
Jane then interjected to reveal how Kim will overhear Harriet declaring her 'undying love' for Will which will then set off the fireworks Katherine alluded to. "She's not happy about that," the actress said. "I think it's the eve of her wedding. Timing..."
