Fans of Emmerdale had their hearts broken tonight as a popular character said his goodbye.
Paddy Kirk, played by actor Dominic Brunt, has been facing a battle with his mental health recently. It comes following his wife, Chas, having an affair with Al Chapman, who was murdered after the adultery came to light.
The normally bubbly character was left reeling in the aftermath as he suffered with depression. Recent episodes saw him disappear from the village but he made a brief return to give a subtle goodbye to his friends and family.

Tonight on the ITV soap he went around the Dales talking to his nearest and dearest one by one including Rhona, Marlon, Mandy and his dad Bear. He had emotional heart to hearts with each of them, unbeknownst to them all saying his veiled goodbyes..
In a very moving scene he tucked his daughter, Eve, in with a blanket for a final time as she napped on the couch. He told her that she "deserved better" but he "loved her more than anything".
He wiped away tears as he said: "I have to go away tomorrow. But eventually you'll all see it's for the best for everyone."
Soon enough he penned a letter to Bear - a suicide note - as he went missing once more.
Fans on Twitter were devastated. Michelle said: "Paddy's storyline is heart-breaking @dominicbrunt is incredible. If anyone is struggling with their mental health please talk to someone. #mentalhealth #Emmerdale #itsokaytonotbeokay x"
Traylor said: "Paddy saying his goodbyes #Emmerdale," followed by a crying emoji. Claire said: "Paddy saying his goodbyes is heartbreaking #emmerdale."
Jamie said: "This is pretty devastating with Paddy. Not the easiest of watches #Emmerdale."
