ITV Dancing on Ice fans go wild over Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern partnership as Phillip Schofield is replaced

There was a big change on Dancing On Ice as long-standing host Phillip Schofield was replaced.

Phillip usually presents the ice-skating competition every Sunday night alongside his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby.

But Dancing On Ice viewers instead saw In For A Penny and Catchphrase presenter Stephen Mulhern take his place, as Phil has been forced to pull out of the show after testing positive for coronavirus.

And it was a nostalgia-fest with viewers - and the TV duo - reminiscing about their days presenting together on children's television.

The pair hosted Holly and Stephen's Saturday Showdown, previously Ministry of Mayhem, on ITV from 2004 to 2006.

Holly and Stephen laughed as they reminded viewers that it was 16 years since 'we did kids' telly.'

And Holly giggled: "We're grown ups now."

Viewers flocked to Twitter to say how good it was to see them reunited and to say they were loving the partnership.

@danielmarkhurst wrote: "Holly and Stephen hosting? Missed opportunity if they don't do Cakey Sk8 #DancingOnIce."

@XLindyLou wrote: "Love this partnership already! Stephen and Holly #dancingonice."

And @blondsteve tweeted: "Holly and Stephen Mulhern work really well together - just Holly and Josie Gibson did on This Morning."

But viewers questioned their coodinating all-black outfits.

@SophieBeaMusic asked: "I mean, of course they look great as always. But. Why are Holly & Stephen dressed for a funeral pls? #DancingOnIce"

@MarkRut35920641 said: "Holly and Stephen must be going to a funeral after the show."

@hughesjg commented: "Two thoughts, re. #DancingOnIce: Why are Holly and Stephen dressed so sombrely? Are they in mourning for the loss of #Neighbours?"

And @JackieS85101493 said: Stephen and Holly looking like a pair of funeral directors tonight!"
