ITV Corrie's Samia Longchambon shares amazing throwback with fellow soap stars from early TV job

Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has treated fans to another throwback just a few weeks after her last 'mortifying' trip down memory lane.

The actress has starred in Corrie since 2000, after beating Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh and Hear'Say star Suzanne Shaw to land the role of Maria Sutherland, now Maria Windass. But while she has pretty much grown up on screen having joined the ITV soap at 19, fans may be surprised to know it wasn't her first role.

Samia's first foray into acting was in crime drama Cracker in 1994, before she landed a small role as Charlotte in the popular CITV series Children's Ward a year later.

While she actually appeared in Corrie as an extra when she was a youngster at the tender age of eight, it wasn't for another decade that she became a regular on the long-running show.

However, taking to Instagram this week, Samia shared a snap from her days in Children's Ward before viewers came to know her as hairdresser Maria. The nostalgic snap showed the fresh-faced actress alongside a few other familiar faces.

One of those is her cobbles co-star Jane Danson, who is best known for playing Leanne Battersby in the Salford-based soap. Jane played one of Children Ward’s regular characters, Paula, from 1995 to 1997. She was seen smiling in the photo while Danny Dyer also stood grinning behind her, decades before playing Mick Carter in EastEnders.

Danny, 43, only appeared in two episodes of Children's Ward, the soap opera for kids was shot in Bolton at the Bolton General Hospital, which is now the Royal Bolton Hospital. The first of his two appearances came in 1989, and then the second six years later in 1995.

Appearing to have grabbed the image from an online article, she tagged her fellow stars of the BAFTA Children's Award-winning show and wrote; "Wow no there's a throwback!"

As already mentioned it comes weeks after Samia wowed fans with a different talent as old TV footage was unearthed. In 2003 the Eccles-bron star took part in the celebrity edition of the Granada singing contest Stars in their Eyes.

The popular show, which ran from 1990 to 2006, had members of the public and celebrities impersonating singing stars. Mother-of-two Samia was hoping the clip of her performing as Australian singer Holly Valance on her number one hit Kiss Kiss would never see the light of day again, until this week it was uncovered by the Instagram account Hunsnet.

Wearing a white vest and cargo pants and a bronde wig over her short dark hair, a pouting Samia was carried onto the stage by a troupe of male dancers for the explosive performance. Hunsnet joked: "Me in the talent show on my 2003 holibob to Pontin’s Prestatyn dallyn."

Samia replied with a hand-over-eyes emoji as she asked: "Where did you dig this up from?? #mortified #mwah." And Hunsnet told her: "Omg this is peak hun behaviour! Please don’t be mortified! THIS. IS. EVERYTHING!"
