ITV Corrie's Colson Smith praised as he details latest achievement amid staggering weight loss

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has been praised by his fans after he shared his latest impressive achievement. The actor, who is known for playing Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, took his lockdown running hobby to the next level as he took part in the Heaton Park Half Marathon.

Last month, Colson was flooded with good luck messages as he announced what appeared to be his biggest challenge since starting his fitness journey. The soap star shocked fans when he revealed his epic 10 stone weight loss for the first time in 2020. Colson completely overhauled his lifestyle and documented his journey in his own YouTube film, Bored Of Being the Fat Kid.

When lockdown hit, and the cast and crew suspended filming at the Salford-based set, Colson packed up and went back to his family. It was then, he previously told the Manchester Evening News, that he chose to put himself first after spending so long being a self-confessed "people pleaser''.

It was during lockdown that he found his love of running and while lockdown was challenging for everyone, it turned out to be the best thing for him. Since then, Colson, who would drink around five pints of fizzy drinks a day before his epic weight loss, has regularly updated his followers on his latest runs and gym sessions as he continues with his new lifestyle. And he has now shared his next running ambitions with his social media followers.

Sharing two photos with his hundreds of thousands of followers, Colson could be seen running in a woodland area, sporting black sportswear and bright orange trainers. Revealing all, he said: "Sooooo… I’m finally running a marathon! Stockholm 2023. Seems the obvious next step on my fitness journey right?!?"

He went on to add: "Over the next few months as I structure my weekly running into a plan ahead of the marathon, I’m going to start sharing a lot more of my runs on here with you! See you in Stockholm!"

And he's already stuck into training, posting his daily adventures on social media. Then on Sunday, Colson was seen posing for a selfie with a medal around his neck as he completed a half marathon and not only that, got a personal best.

Proudly sharing the red-faced snap, the 23-year-old said: "Half Marathon PB - 01:38:44." Corrie co-star Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb, was among the first to respond, writing: "Fantastic!!" While Andy Whyment, who plays on-screen stepdad Kirk Sutherland, replied: "Well done mate."

Fans were also showing their support. @run_sammi_run said: "Awesome work!! Smashed it." @nessa16x commented: "Bloody hell, fantastic!" @iainhumphrey replied: "That is a brilliant time Colson." @dawniola wrote: "Well done amazing time!"
