Katie, 28, won high praise for her portrayal, scooping the National Television Award for best serial drama performance in 2020, after her character died in the soap in 2019.
The soap star also became a patron for Mummy's Star, a charity that s dedicated to women and their families diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth.
And despite now starring in Hollyoaks, Katie hasn't forgotten about her former character.
"ONE in every THREE people don’t go for their cervical screening… this number is staggering and needs to change now," she wrote on Instagram alongside the stills from her emotional Corrie scenes.
"Yes, I am banging my drum again! It’s #CervicalCancerPreventionWeek and as most of you will probably know, my character Sinead Tinker passed away from cervical cancer on @coronationstreet and it was a storyline which played out over two years and one which reignited the Jade Goody effect for many people around the country…
"To this day I still receive messages saying that Sinead’s storyline saved their lives, they went for a smear and found cancerous cells etc…
"There are a few in particular that stick out in my mind because tragically for some it was found too late and they’re no longer here with us, but there’s every chance they could have been if they just booked in and went for that routine smear when they were supposed to and knowing that really really breaks my heart."
Katie went on: "Cervical screenings can stop cervical cancer before it even starts - and early detection and prevention is the key to beating this disease! I know that smears aren’t the most pleasant of experiences, but it’s over before you know it and trust me it’s nothing they haven’t seen many many times before…
"@JosCervicalCancerTrust have all the answers and support you might need… there’s not question too big or too small - even if you feel a bit silly, ask anyway!"
She ended the post: "GO FOR YOUR SMEARS!"
Katie also shared the same message to her Instagram Story, but added: "I know you guys are probably sick of me talking about [it] every year but please please take note and go for that smear.
"It could save your life!!"
The post was soon filling up with comments, many from women sharing their own stories of having their lives saved by the routine check.
Others were also praising Katie once again for her portrayal of Sinead's story.
