Comedian and actor Duggie Brown has died at the age of 82, his agent has confirmed. The much-loved star was also best known for appearing on The Comedians.
He was also the brother of actress and singer Lynne Perrie - who played Ivy Tilsley on Coronation Street for 23 years from 1971 to 1994. Lynne sadly died in 2006 at the age of 74 after suffering from a stroke.
Duggie most recently appeared on-screen in Corrie. He made a short appearance in the ITV soap as Ted Spear. The character was knocked over on New Year's Day in a huge storyline for Faye Windass and Emma Brooker as learner driver Faye drove them back from a New Year's Eve party.

Although Ted got up from the knock and appeared ok, inviting the girls back to his flat for tea and biscuits, he was later found dead in his armchair when Faye and Emma paid a guilty visit. They then went on to try and cover up their involvement in Ted's death with the help of Faye's boyfriend, and police officer, Craig Tinker.
A statement on Twitter posted by agent Lee Morgan confirmed the sad news of Duggie's death. It read: "It is with a heavy heart I share the news the very talented Comedian & Actor Duggie Brown passed away this morning with his wife Jackie by his side. What an honour it was to work with Duggie. A born entertainer who loved his profession. RIP Duggie Brown. We love & salute you."
Tommy Cannon, who is one half of iconic duo Cannon and Ball, has also paid tribute to the actor following his death. "Really sad to hear about the passing of Duggie Brown, Rest in peace pal, what a funny funny man- thinking of all your friends and family," he penned on Twitter.
Ian Freeman, the Trustee/Treasurer of the Royal Variety Charity also tweeted: "So very sad to hear that actor, comedian and King Rat of The Grand Order Of Water Rats Duggie Brown passed away this morning aged 82. A gentle, witty and talented man and a good friend, he will be sadly missed and forever in our thoughts. #RIPDuggieBrown."
Duggie has also appeared in Corrie before. In 1997, he played George Freeman in Coronation Street, and again in 2004, this time playing Honor Blackman's husband Bernie. His other roles have included Brookside, The Final Cut, Heartbeat, Doctors and Still Open All Hours.
