ITV Coronation Street star announces sudden exit in gushing post to co-stars as fans ask 'is that it'

Amy Robbins has announced her exit from Coronation Street after a short but sweet stint on the cobbles. The actress, who viewers of the ITV soap quickly recognised when she appeared on-screen, made her debut in the role of Daisy Midgeley's mum Christina Boyd last month.

Not too much was. and still is, known about Daisy's background, other than that Rovers Return landlady Jenny Connor was once her stepmother before her dad's death. But Christina brought some of Daiy's old feelings back to the surface when their reunion got off to a frosty start.

Daisy was unnerved when she started getting phone calls after she started receiving flowers from a mystery admirer. After initially thinking it was the DJ she flirted with while mad at fiance Daniel Osbourne at a wedding fair, the stream of bouquets were actually revealed to be from Justin, the man she met at the hospital back in December.

But when Daisy decided to ring the number and was shocked when her estranged mum walked in through the doors of the pub with her phone ringing. It later transpired that she had learned of Daisy's engagement to Daniel after he did the wrong thing by trying to surprise her with some old school friends.

And it was clear Jenny wasn't pleased to see Christina, just as much as Daisy didn't appreciate her sudden arrival. But her appearance in Weatherfield appears to just be a short one as Amy has already confirmed that she's filmed her last scenes. She took to Instagram to share snaps alongside co-stars, Charlotte Jordan and Rob Mallard, who play Daisy and Daniel, alongside a gushing post.

"And so .. Christina bids a fond farewell to her beloved long suffering Daisy and her darling soon to be soon in law Daniel," she said. "@charliejordanxo @rob.mallard @sallyannmathews I shall miss you. Thank you ALL at @coronationstreet for making me so welcome. As dream jobs go .. this one was hard to beat."

She then shared a follow-up snap of the trio as she pulled them in close and gave a sad pout for the camera. "Missing you already," Amy penned alongisde the photo. And Corrie fans were quick to respond.

@charliejordan.fanxo said: "That was quick. We will miss you Amy. I hope you will return one day." @zoggie_zee commented: "Oh no is that it? There is so much more they could have done with the character." @x_amy.allen_x penned in surprise: "WHAT YOU’RE GOING ALREADY NO WHAT." @avril_and_her_art replied: "Oh no I was hoping you would be a regular."

@nicole.dell.125 typed: "You’re so so bloody amazing!!!! I hope you come back on the show very soon." @janeparker6626 echoed: "What a great character amy hope your back soon." @lisamwilliams_78 shared: "You’ve been fantastic in Corrie, Amy. Hope they bring your character back soon." @middlesbroughfc138 added: "Gone already & Will miss U so much but at least U Will be on screen for a bit longer."

Whe Christina first arrived in the Rovers, it didn't take long to realise where they had seen the actress before. Amy recently played Defence Barrister Milligan on Emmerdale in 2022 during serial killer Meena Jutla's court case and she also appeared in BBC One rival EastEnders as Caren in 2019. Others, however, were mentioning the role she is best known for, Dr. Jill Weatherill in former ITV medical drama The Royal.

Amy has also played Philip Ryan in the BBC school drama from 2009 to 2011. He also played Vinnie Dupe, the geek without chic, in STV's comedy Being Victor, and William, in BBC1's Last Tango in Halifax. However, they may also get her confused with her famous sister, Kate Robins, who recently appeared in Netflix's After Life and BBC's EastEnders and is the mother of comedian and Inbetweeners and Celebrity Juice star Emily Atack.

And it's fair to say it's an acting family as Amy and Kate's brother Ted Robbins has had roles in Ackley Bridge, The A Word, Mount Pleasant, Bad Education and Coronation Street.
