Coronation Street viewers were gobsmacked as they found out David Platt's real age.
Wednesday's episode of the long-running soap continued to explore the fallout of the character's mistake as he drunkenly attempted to kiss Maria Windass. The character, played by Jack P Shepherd, was caught red handed by his onscreen wife, Shona.
David was in the doghouse in tonight's show as he sought forgiveness from Shona. In the opening moments of the episode, he told his mum, Gail Platt, he had "messed up".

He said: "It's not as bad as it sounds. Well actually it is quite bad." However, his onscreen mum, played by Helen Worth, cut him short as she urged David to resolve his own problems.
She said: "You're 32 years of age. Whatever you've done, sort it for Lily's sake."
David is one of Coronation Street's most legendary characters as he has been at the centre of some of the show's most dramatic storylines. Jack joined the cast in 2000 and the troubled teenager was traumatised after he was nearly drowned by infamous Corrie villain, Richard Hillman.
David has since married Shona Turner on the show - and the character matured over the years as his storylines now focus on trying to keep Max Turner, on the right path. In real life, Jack is aged 35 years old and fans took to Twitter in disbelief his character has been through so much despite his young years.
Louise said: "How is David only 32??" Beige commented: "Can’t believe David is only 32"
