ITV Coronation Street first look as Kelly Neelan made prisoner in kidnap horror

Millie Gibson teased danger for her Coronation Street character and a first look at the drama shows she wasn't wrong. The ITV soap has revealed the moment that Kelly Neelan finds herself panic-stricken and a prisoner in a darkened cellar after her good intentions go dangerously wrong.

Next week, Kelly sees Aadi Alahan out of the barbers when a wad of cash falls out of her bag leaving her friend shocked. Kelly explains that the cash belonged to her dad and she’s trying to return it to the people he ripped off over the years. Corrie fans suspected this was the case months ago when the school girl was presented with a bag of cash Gary found while cleaning her dad's former house.

After initially refusing to want anything to do with the cash or put it away in a bank account for her future, she disappeared with the bag leading viewers to think she's trying to do right by the people her loan shark father took advantage of after one man showed up at his funeral and spat on his coffin.

While Aadi urges her to seek the advice of her guardian Gary, Kelly refuses to listen and carries on with her plans. When Gary gets wind of her plans, sparks fly, as he knows only too well how dangerous Rick’s associates are. But the teen's soon seen calling at a house and introduces herself as Rick Neelan’s daughter. As she hands Ross an envelope full of cash, she explains that she’s trying to make up for her dad's wrongdoing.

But he's not interested and shuts the door in her face. That doesn't deter Kelly and despite a dramatic showdown with Gary, Kelly ultimately seals her own fate by ignoring his words and meeting up with one of Rick’s old cronies.

In scenes to air on Friday night, July 15, Kelly is captured by one of her dad’s evil old clients, Kieron, after she tracks him down to pay him back his money. It's at this moment that Kelly is kidnapped and locked in a cellar, terrified that her days are numbered.

Millie, who has played Kelly on the cobbles since 2019, commented: "Kelly is distraught. Every time she gets herself into these sorts of situations she feels like she has hit rock bottom, but then another situation comes around so it’s a constant cycle of awful situations for her. Kelly is fearing for her life, she knows what her dad was capable of so she is terrified of what his enemies could do.”

And as playing with fire has put Kelly in danger, will she find a way out of this? Referring to earlier scenes with Ross, Millie told the Manchester Evening News and other press : "She's just so gullible sometimes."

She added: "She just thinks it's a close call and carries on with her day like she does. And this is the thing, she doesn't listen to anyone and you start to see... Gary tells her not to do it but also Aadi says it's not the best idea. But she's right, she's always right and she never learns really."
