Coronation Street fans were quick to remind one character of their past as Max Turner faced the wrath of his neighbours following his involvement in an extremist gang. There was high-stake drama last week when a bomb was planted in the middle of the street's new peace markets which were organised by councillor Maria Windass.
For months, viewers of the ITV soap have been watching Griff and his cronies increase their presence on the famous street while also grooming impressionable youngster Max Turner into joining them. It soon became clear that the group held racist views, targeting refugee Daryan Zahawi and his new employer Alya Nazir.
Spider Nugent also appeared to be pals with Griff and co, however, viewers knew that he was an undercover cop trying to infiltrate the gang and get them caught. However, with Spider out of the way after being attacked for being a grass by Griff, the gang continued with their big plan.

With the help of his girlfriend Lauren Lauren Bolton, who is the daughter of one of Griff's racist mates, Max realised something bad was going to happen and sprung into action. He pleaded with Alya and her grandmother Yasmeen to listen to his warnings and after admitting to seeing the Speed Dahl van out on some wasteland before appearing back on the street.
And it wasn't too long before Alya found a wire in her van which was also linked to a timer. Realising a bomb had been planted and they had a matter of minutes to stop it from going off and, despite her grandmother's pleas, Alya jumped into the van and drove it away from the street, hoping to find somewhere where fewer people were at risk of getting hurt before the timer ticked down. Later, she arrived at an area of wasteland with just seconds to spare and ended up out cold on the floor from the explosion.
During Sunday night's trip to the cobbles (January 8), Corrie fans saw the continued fallout from the scenes. After being taken to the police station for questioning, Max returned to the street with David Platt. Having to face his neighbours for the first time, the pair walked through the market and saw Maria and husband Gary Windass.
Gary was furious to see the teen back in Weatherfield and insisted that Max should not be able to remain on the cobbles. David tried to stick up for Max, telling Gary his son had been groomed by Griff but he wasn't having any of it. It was actually Alya who spoke up for Max, pointing out that although there are now excuses for his behaviour, he had done the right thing in the end.
But in the meantime, Corrie fans were flocking to social media to comment to call out Gary, reminding him that he remains on the street despite him being a murderer. @spyingcactus tweeted: "Gary the murderer can't talk, hypocrite #Corrie."
@AnnyTrish commented: "Wind yer neck in Gary, you're not exactly perfect. You should also be in a cell #Corrie." @MatthewMitt6 wrote: "Why is Gary going off? He literally killed and buried someone #corrie." @itzzzo_ posted: "Does Gary not realise people would want him to move like he does Max if they knew how is responsible for Rick’s death, Derek’s oh and Rana’s? #Corrie."
@_TS_13 shared: "Gary to a 16 year old kid: 'I want him to move on as well, as far away from here a possible' Also Gary: has killed several people, injured countless others and lashes out violently a lot of the time #Corrie." @scripttoscene added: "For all the effort #Corrie put to make the super duper villain Gary “redeemed” and “likeable”… they really made him the hypocrite that yells at Max to be locked up when he has literally got away with murder twice."
It comes after many did a u-turn on their feelings towards Max due to him coming to the rescue in the end.
