Fans of ITV's Coronation Street have been left split over the news a star is leaving the show. Viewers will say farewell to Emma Brooker this week as she leaves the cobbles. But how she leaves has been left a mystery and the door will be left open for her to return in the future.
The pink-wearing barmaid has been played by Alexandra Mardell since 2018 and back in February she announced she was leaving the ITV hit soap after four years in the role. She said it felt "like the right time" to depart and last month spent her final days on the Salford set which was full of emotions.
And her TV character will be heading off to Australia with her romance Jon Spear. But fans were left divided by the shock announcement.
One wrote: "Good, sorry don’t like that character at all", while another said: "Good because this Ted storyline has been ridiculous & unrealistic"
One fan added: "That's a shame I liked Emma she was a little ray of sunshine and funny." And a fourth wrote: "Will miss you as you have been the sweetest character ever on Corrie, good luck to you in everything you do."
At the start of the new year, Emma was involved in a life-changing drama when she and best friend Faye Windass accidentally ran over an elderly man called Ted while she was giving Faye a driving lesson still under the influence of New Year's Eve drinks. They have since covered up their crime, with the help of Faye's boyfriend Craig Tinker, and have been attempting to get on with their lives.
