ITV Coronation Street fans fear 'nightmares' as they 'can't unhear' Mary Taylor's admission about youth

Coronation Street fans were left spluttering at their TV screens as they tuned in to see the latest goings-on in Weatherfield thanks to an admission from Mary Taylor about her youth. The much-loved ITV soap character, played by Patti Clare, is currently planning a trip abroad with Brian Packham after misunderstanding his request for help.

The former headteacher, played by Peter Gunn, had a DNA test which informed him of his Italian descent. He later revealed he'd found a cousin, Isabella, who lives in Italy and that he had plans to visit her. He asked Mary if she could help make the trip happen, hoping she would offer to run The Kabin during his absence.

However, Mary appeared to misunderstand Brian's request and thought he'd invited her to come along. "Oh how lovely," Mary told her pal. "You know I passed through there once many moons ago when I was young, care-free and full of spunk. In fact there was a memorable afternoon by the Castel Nuovo with an ice cream vendor.

"Sadly I've forgotten his name now but I'll never forget the colour of his eyes or indeed the taste of his frutti di scusa." And While Brian told her it was a 'very moving story', Corrie fans watching at home were left flocking to social media to share their shock at her use of the world 'spunk' which means 'courage and determination' but in slang has a more X-rated description.

@Nickjacs tweeted: "@itvcorrie I can't un-hear Mary's line #Corrie." @RobJohn001 said: "Did she... Did she just say she was full of spunk? #Corrie." @davidbrfc posted with a clip of the scene: "Bloody hell mary. Full of #spunk ??? #coronationstreet #ITV #share #viral."

@AdamPro_Actor joked: "Christ - hope I don’t have a nightmare tonight after listening to Mary’s dirty past #Corrie." @Karen18Morgan laughed in response: "I spat my drink out when I heard her say that!" @marciehughes wrote: "Just the best line ever." @TheGrimesTwins3 posted: "Young, care free & full of what Mary. #Corrie." @paulineburke6 added: "Can't believe they got mary to say that!#corrie."

As for the storyline, Mary and Brian are set to be left disappointed, In upcoming scenes, Brian receives an email from Isabella telling him she will fly out to Weatherfield as her flat in Naples is under renovation.
