The New Italian Cinema Events (N.I.C.E) Festival - with a programme full of films telling the story of Italy's past and present - is coming to The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield this Friday.
The programme features a mix of films by new Italian up and coming directors, as well as experienced film makers. The festival comes to Dublin after a successful run in Cork city last weekend.
Viviana Del Bianco, artistic director of N.I.C.E. said: "I am delighted that we are able to bring the N.I.C.E. Italian Film Festival back to Ireland this year. It is a magnificent celebration and showcase of Italian filmmakers presenting first and second works of great value, ranging from comedy to drama. It proves how, despite the difficulties of recent years, Italian authors are more active and motivated than ever."

There will be nine films in total to view with the festival opening with one of Italy's most well known contemporary authors Pierfrancesco Diliberto also known as 'Pif'.
His move called 'on our watch' explores the the themes of work, mass media, society and human relationships in the internet age.
Other movies explore topics such as the expectations and difficulties of today's young people and explore the themes of social integration, crime and immigration. These themes are prevalent in Italy today.
There are also two biographical films based on the young Dante Alighieri and Luigi Pirandello which shed light on the life of two of the most illustrious and famous Italian authors in the world.
Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin, Marco Gioacchini said: “This is an unmissable opportunity to watch a selection of films by new Italian directors that tell of the expectations and difficulties of today’s young people and explore the themes of social integration, crime and immigration. The aim is to represent a cultural reference for those who love our country, along with the hope of fully including the Festival in the rich international film programming that takes place every year in Ireland."
Following the opening screening on this Friday, there will be a free drinks reception, for more information and to book tickets you can visit eventbrite or the Lighthouse website.
