Pep Guardiola has branded Manchester City's 14-point lead over Liverpool earlier in the campaign as "fake" and likened their Premier League rivalry to that of Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga.
The Reds' 2-2 draw with Chelsea on January 2 saw City go 11 clear of their title rivals, a lead which was briefly extended to 14 later in the month after a 1-0 win against Thomas Tuchel's side at the Etihad.
Jurgen Klopp's men, however, did have two games in hand on January 15, and City's draws with Southampton and Crystal Palace, either side of a mid-February defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, have re-opened the door for the Reds.
